Ayad Salih serves as the Executive Director of the Iraqi Institution for Development (IID) and has been working in the humanitarian field since 2003, in the period following the change of regime in Iraq. This long experience has given him extensive expertise in managing humanitarian and development programs at the national and international levels. His role focuses on leading the organization strategically and ensuring the implementation of its programs according to the highest humanitarian standards, while monitoring community needs during times of conflict and crisis and analyzing the challenges facing vulnerable groups in order to guide an effective response.
He manages and coordinates relief and development programs across various Iraqi governorates, with a focus on supporting displaced persons and returnees, strengthening education, and providing psychosocial support to affected groups. He also oversees the monitoring of government policies related to vulnerable populations and organizes evidence-based advocacy campaigns to address gaps in government procedures and call for improved laws and policies in line with international humanitarian standards and human rights conventions.
His role also includes representing the organization before local and international partners, mobilizing community and international support to advance IID’s programs, and ensuring legal, administrative, and financial compliance across all operations. He works to build strong partnerships with donors, UN agencies, and civil society organizations to enhance IID’s impact and support its humanitarian and development mission in Iraq.
