The Iraqi Institution for Development (IID) extends its sincere appreciation to the Secretariat of the Guangzhou International Award for Urban Innovation for selecting its initiative, "From Return to Resilience: Urban Reintegration for Safer and More Inclusive Cities," implemented in Nineveh Governorate, as one of the Top 30 Exemplary Urban Initiatives in the Award's seventh edition.

This achievement follows a highly competitive international selection process involving nearly 400 initiatives submitted by 248 cities and regions across 60 countries, reflecting the initiative's outstanding contribution to urban innovation and sustainable development.

The initiative is implemented by the Iraqi Institution for Development (IID) with funding and support from the Global Community Engagement and Resilience Fund (GCERF), in coordination with the Nineveh Governorate, relevant government institutions, and local partners. The initiative aims to promote urban reintegration, strengthen social cohesion, and contribute to building safer, more inclusive, and more resilient cities.

This international recognition acknowledges the efforts undertaken in Nineveh Governorate to advance recovery, stability, and urban development in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the New Urban Agenda.

The Award Secretariat has announced the publication of the official list of selected initiatives on its official website and social media platforms, noting that the thirty selected initiatives represent leading global models of urban innovation and are presented without ranking or order of merit.

The Iraqi Institution for Development (IID) expresses its gratitude to the Global Community Engagement and Resilience Fund (GCERF) for its continued support, as well as to the Nineveh Governorate and all governmental and community partners whose collaboration contributed to the successful implementation of the initiative and this international achievement.

IID reaffirms its commitment to developing and implementing innovative initiatives that promote sustainable development, local governance, and social cohesion, contributing to the creation of more stable, resilient, and prosperous Iraqi cities.

This achievement is a source of pride for both Iraq and Nineveh Governorate and reflects the success of the effective partnership between the Iraqi Institution for Development (IID), the Global Community Engagement and Resilience Fund (GCERF), and local partners in delivering an outstanding urban initiative that has earned international recognition.
